Personal Me: Runner, Cyclist, Techie
The purpose of this page is two fold:1) To provide a small glimpse into my personal life.
2) To provide information on how you can help me help Children’s Miracle Network
First, a bit about my personal life and no it does not include any stories of drunken adventures. In fact I hardly ever drink as that would lessen the benefits of my fit activities.
What I do a lot of is run and ride bike. My longest single run to date is 26.2 miles (Kansas City Marathon) and my longest single ride is 38.1 miles.
I also love technology. I had a computer in my room beginning in sixth grade which allowed me to build a certain comfort level with technology early on. I have extended that to using all sorts of gadgets (I am typing this on my Blackberry). I often try to combine technology and fitness so my Blackberry, Garmin GPS, and bluetooth headphones are with me on every trip.
When I’m not exercising or playing with new gadgets I love to spend time with family. Actually in order of priority this is by far the most important part of my life. However, since this site will mainly be about technology and fitness I have listed family last. My wife and daughter (and killer Boston Terrier), my parents, and my in-laws (who unlike many other folks I get along with quite well:) ) are wonderful people (and dog).
Oddly, since I am not the type to strike up a conversation with people I do love to help. If I am in public and overhear people talking about the latest hot topic I tune that out very easily. But if I hear somebody having problems I am quick to offer assistance.
Along those lines I would like to close with an idea I have to help children. I am trying to set up what will hopefully be a successful fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network. To get some background please read my “Exercising for Others” post.
If you want to help all you need to do is click here and select “Sponsor Me Now” to donate. I will not be collecting any money or billing information….all of that goes directly to CMN. Something to consider when deciding how much to pledge is that for September I ran a total of 59.3 miles and biked 202.1 miles.
To follow my updated posts concerning my personal life all you need to do is head over to the blog post page and select the “Personal Me” category to see what I have been up to lately.
